Here I go!

Alright, it is time to get serious. I am setting a huge goal for myself: I want to weigh 125 lbs by my 25th birthday. Since my birthday is on July 4th, I have 130 days, just over four month until the final weigh in.

Let me back up… that opening might have sounded a little dramatic. I am a 24 year old girl living in fabulous Chicago. I lead a semi-active live and at 5’3, I currently weigh 135(ish- must buy scale or this will never work). While this my be considered a healthy weight, I just feel heavy, pudgy. I know I am not fat. These last 10 pounds have been on me forever, looking back at me in the mirror with a smirk as if to say “Go ahead, try and lose me. Bet you can’t!”. Jerks, I never liked them.

I might be carrying that extra “winter weight” right now, especially since it is freezing abyss that is February.  If there ever was a time my body would think it needed to add fat to keep warm, it would be now. But my apartment and my office are both adequately heated, this can no longer be an excuse. My winter weight is more likely a mixture of the amazing Chicago restaurants, laziness from the weather, and Girl Scout cookies.

I do have a slight advantage over my weight, I know my downfalls (Yes, plural. Oh gosh this is not going to be easy). Things I need to overcome:

  1. SWEETS. I love baking them almost as much as eating them
  2. Mindless snacking
  3. Emotional eating
  4. Portion control

Each one of these overlaps onto the other. I know that these lbs will be a thing of the past as soon as I can reinvent my way of thinking about food. Even though my short term goal would be to get down to 125, my long term would be to develop a healthier lifestyle to keep them off, something I have never been able to do.

So here is to a new beginning for me. I am very excited to share my journey and make those changes to a thinner me.
